2024 Race Review

Sunday 28th April

We were so pleased to be holding our 42nd annual Stevington 12k Run with another great group of runners.

The weather wasn’t the best, with heavy rain the night before and leading up to the start of the race. The team worked hard to accommodate the runners inside and although it got a bit tight in the hall, it worked!

We had a total of 167 runners on the day, which was down a little from 2023, but I’m sure the weather probably didn’t help. Lots of new faces and lots of people returning and 10 were Stevington residents which was wonderful.

We had glass finishers medals this year which was a first for our run.

It takes a lot of effort from lots of people to make the race happen, and we are blessed with tremendous volunteers from within and outside of the village (special thanks to the Bedford Harriers marhsals).

Our volunteers marshal, drive the lead car, drive the sweeper car, keep the backup race times, register the runners, hand out numbers, put up the signage, take down the signage, bake cakes, sell cakes, sell the tea, coffee and sweets, manage the bag drop, run the bar, run the BBQ, set up the start and finish lines, hand out flyers, manage the water stations, set up the village hall and clear up afterwards, to name just some of the jobs!

Thank you to all the volunteers and runners who make the day so great. We are very grateful.

Our next race in 2025 which will be our 43rd, date TBC.

Thanks everyone,

Stevington 12k Race Committee
